The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve Huntington Beach
Having grown up in Huntington Beach, I really can not believe I have not been here!! I have driven past it hundreds of times and always said I need to go their one day so finally my mom and I went! We went in the later afternoon so the sun was out, their was a slight breeze and it was very beautiful. There are 2 areas you can enter at, we started with the entrance off of the middle of PCH, getting out of the car you can here sooo many birds!! We walked across the bridge, looked across the way and we could see thousands of birds called the Least Tern. Over on a small island was all of their babies so the parents were flying and diving for fish to feed them.... It was really cool to watch...We also saw a black and white sand piper, which I have never seen before....We walked a little farther and then you can see another area that you can not see from the road and there were several other types of birds. It is a great place to come to bird watch or for a walk or a run, there are lots of trails and not a lot of people, however there are no doggies allowed here... A wonderful way to spend a couple hours and it is free!!!
